How to To recreate Outlook cached (offline) folders (OST file)

  1. Close Outlook and Office Communicator.
  2. Identify the location of your Outlook Offline folder (OST file):
  3. From the Start menu, select Control Panel.
  4. Double click Mail (if Mail icon is not visible, click Switch to Classic View on the left-hand side).
  5. Click Show Profiles.
  6. Select the profile you are using and click Properties.
  7. Click E-mail Accounts.
  8. Outlook 2003: Select View or change existing email accounts and click Next.
  9. Select Microsoft Exchange Server and click Change.
  10. Click More Settings.
  11. Click the Advanced tab.
  12. Click Offline Folder File Settings.
  13. Take note of the folder location in the File field.
  14. Click 3 times of Cancel, 2 times of Close and then Cancel to close the screen.
  15. Delete the existing Outlook Offline folder (OST file):
  16. Double click My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows Vista).
  17. Go to the location noted in step 2.
  18. Windows XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\
  19. Windows Vista: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\
  20. Note: If you cannot see any of these folders, set Windows to show hidden files and folders
  21. Select the OST file noted in step 2 and rename it.
  22. e.g. Rename outlook.ost to outlook.ost_old
  23. Note: If it says that the file is in use, check for Outlook processes that have not closed, or restart your computer.
  24. Click Yes to confirm.
  25. Open Outlook again.
  26. The Outlook Offline folder (OST file) will be recreated. E-mail will begin to appear in your inbox, but it may take some time for all folders and calendar to be synchronized.

Note : please close any outlook or lync/oc that is connected 

Please do save it on your computer than run the file
